"Get those trainers on and run like Forest Gump."
If you have been travelling before you know how difficult it can be to keep that muffin top at bay. Below are some tips on how to keep fit so you don't return home feeling like a Yorkshire pudding.
This is the easiest and most simple one. Get those trainers on and run like Forest Gump. If you are somewhere that gets really hot by 8 am, get out early. It's a fantastic way to see a sunrise or the locals getting ready for their day ahead. Watch out for the wild dogs!
Take a skipping rope with you. It's light and barely takes up any room. Skipping is great fat burning exercise that you can do almost anywhere.
Seek out a local yoga studio, do it on the beach, in the mountains or on your hostels roof. Find yoga sites or videos on YouTube. Here's a free yoga site www.doyogawithme.com.
This is an excellent form of exercise and my personal favourtie. I have done HIIT now for at least 3 years and love it. You don't need much space or any equipment. You see great results and sometimes with only doing 12 minutes per day! I mean who doesn't have time for that?
Before leaving for our trip I signed up to Kelly's programme I saw great results and I would definitely recommend her. She gives you an easy to follow meal plan and workouts each day that you can do at home. She also offers you nutritonal support.
If you are somewhere that you can hire bikes, do it. It's a great way to explore and to keep fit.
If you have a hobby already that you love such as climbing, surfing, biking, diving and so on. Try and centre your trip around this. This way you get to do what you love and often it will take you away from the normal tourist route which is a fantastic way to get to know the locals.
Whether its in the sea or a swimming pool try to use swiming as the great exercise it is. Do it as much as you can.
Seek out local classes such as tai chi, boxing, dancing, muay thai or whatever is popular in the country you're in.
This ones easy just push the boundries and walk faster and further than you normally would. It will save you money too.
