What Are We Doing?
We are living in Spain on a Workaway(volunteering) project. Included in this is our accommodation, so this is one of the reasons why our budget has come in a lot less than £15 each per day.
This is one of the purposes of slow travel, not only to immerse ourselves in the local community but to spend as little as possible.
I realised after writing this blog that I did not really elaborate on what we are actually doing. In month two I explain things in more detail.

As mentioned above because we are on a Workaway project we have no accommodation costs currently. This is the number one way to save on your budget

With this being our first month we have done tours of all of the supermarkets and markets, searching out the best value for money. It also meant that we had to purchase alot of essentials for our cupboards such as bin bags, washing up liquid and toilet roll. Included in this is drinking water(approx 6litres per day). Jasons sweet tooth has also been included in this calculation.
* If you think we have been living off pasta and pot noodles, think again. Our food has been tasty, healthy and colourful. If you would like to know what we have been eating let me know and I will do a follow up blog.

Valencia is only 50 miutes away onn train from where we are so we decided to go visit the charming city.

Having our own car with us is a life saver for accessing local markets, supermarkets and of course to take us to where the precious climbing is.

We've found a delish blonde beer in Aldi, 1litre is 69cents! When we visited Valncia we treated ourselves, I tried Agua De Valencia and Jason had a craft beer, this cost us £11.50, expensive but totally worth it! And no the remaining balance has not been spent in Aldi!
€39.95/ £30.73 COFFEE & CAKE 3.5%
Looking at this it seems crazy that we have spent so much on coffee, cake and empanadas! Especially when you consider the average price of a green tea and a coffee is €2.30! However everytime we have been out on our bikes we have made a little stop off along the way, so I guess we've done a lot of bike riding!
€15/ £11.53 EATING OUT 1.30%
The bonus of having our own place is that we can cook for ourselves everyday! Which means we eat healthy and spend less! It does mean though that we don't get to try loads of delicious Spanish food.

Driving from the UK was one of the best ideas we had. By doing this we were able to bring our road bikes and rock climbing gear. So this means all of our hobbies are free.

On the 20th of this month, the final day of our monthly budget it was my Birthday. I recived money from my family to celebrate my birthday so we decided to go away for two nights. This figure includes two nights accommodation and food and drnk for three days. We have not included this into our daily spend because the money to fund this came from elsewhere.
* For information purposes this would have taken ouraverage daily spend to £14.40(£7.20 each)
